A Glamorous Night with Marisa Mell !

At the beginning of her career around 1962-1963, Marisa Mell lived in Vienna (Austria), Biberstrasse 9, where you still had the old grand European style of living like in capitals London and Paris embodied by furs, diamonds, pearls, the chauffeur driven Rolls Royce, nights at the Opera or the Debutante Ball... on the other hand a new younger fashionable modern way of living was also emerging in those capitals embodied by jeans, rock and roll, pop music, mini skirts, the Mini Cooper, recreational drugs, sundrenched hollidays at the Côte d'Azur in France or hot Italian nights in Rome... This picture was a promotional photo financed by herself to send to movie producers and movie production companies showing her in the grand old style covered with a white fur, diamands and pearls. Two years later Marisa Mell would relocate to Rome. Once in that sunny country she would never dress this way again and choose the modern Italian way of living. Nevertheless this glamorous photo shows a very fine Marisa Mell all dressed up for a night at the Opera.

I always think it is especially fascinating to see photos like this which were taken in the early 1960s of Marisa (who looks beautiful here, although let's face it, she ALWAYS looked beautiful!) and other actresses who became famous in the mid-late sixties. The difference in style is always amazing. If, for example, you compare the formal gown Marisa has on in the picture with the clothes she wore in Diabolik or Una Sull'Altra, the difference is vast, yet there would be all of five or six years difference in time.

Exactly, she transgressed from one world, the old strict formal world in Germany and Austria, into a more liberated world in Italy and Spain in a matter of a few years!

This is pretty much one of the most beautiful photos of her during that period!! Thank you for sharing it!

What's the best Marisa Mell film to check out first? I'm starting to get into some the actresses of the classic B-movie era. Currently my favorite is Helga Line, a German actress who did a lot of Spanish horror, westerns and euro-spy. Ever heard of her? Here's my recent post on her with links to some of the films I've reviewed, you might like her: http://www.commonsensemoviereviews.com/2009/09/helga-line.html

She's been in a couple hundred films, but it's quite difficult to find much about her on the web, or find her films for that matter. Anyway I figured I'd start checking out Marisa Mell, I have rented Perversion Story & and Danger: Diabolik, any other recommendations?

Hi, TheAnswerMVP2001, I think that "Danger: Diabolik!" and "One on Top of the Other" are great ways to start for Marisa Mell! Then it depends on what movies that you can get your hands on! Another good movie is "La Belva col Mitra" with Helmut Berger or "Born Winner" with Joe Dallesandro or "Diary of an Erotic Murderess" or "Milono Rovente" with Antonio Sabatto! You can find a lot of MM movies at https://www.vsom.com at a cheap price!
